Pequena Chama

Mussulo is a beautiful archipelago, in one of the most beautiful tourist regions of Angola. Blue sea and fine white sand, large coconut trees. You only need to go a little bit inside the island to discover a completely different reality.

Since 2001, some people from the Focolare Movement present with a center in Luanda, in the desire to help the children of Mussulo and their families, have developed a humanitarian and educational project and built the “Pequena Chama” Children’s Center. Today the structure welcomes about 60 children from 3 to 7 years old with the aim of guaranteeing them a more dignified life and future.

The distance support programme launched in 2003 offers education and teaching materials, one meal a day and basic health care. Through the various activities, the children are educated to peace and fraternity, so that “they do not remain attached to their narrow island, but open up to the whole world with the awareness that we are all brothers and sisters, and all responsible for building a better world”.
