Workshop
Malesia: Run4Unity apre la Settimana Mondo Unito
«We, the young people of the Youth for a United World in Penang, Malaysia will be organizing our very first Run4Unity this year. Being a very small number of young people, and being our maiden big project, we decided to seek help from friends, families, colleagues, organizations and anyone who were willing to help us make this event a meaningful one. The process of planning and preparing has been really fruitful as we journeyed together through a lot of challenges, ensuring that the aim of Run4Unity is achieved, first of all among aourselves. We have been working unceasingly for the last 4 months preparing for this big and important day which will be on 1st May 2017».
«We decided to have a ‘Unity Walk’ so that this can be an event participated by people of all ages, young and old. The overwhelming response from the public really encouraged us to work harder for this event. We will be gathering 1200 participants from the different ethnic groups, cultures and religions to bear witness to our commitment for peace and to promote a way to reach this peace: the Golden Rule (“Do unto others what you want done unto you”)».
«Among the many participants are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhist, and people of other faith who will be participating in this 8km Unity Walk. To emphasize on the values of this event, several streamers highlighting the goals of Run4Unity will be carried by participants throughout the walk. We have also arranged a medical team who will be of assistance during this walk».
«A Run4Unity Carnival greets the participants as they return from the walk. The Chief Minister of Penang will also grace this event with his presence. Being a country rich in various ethnics and cultures, participants will be entertained with multicultural performances by the different local communities of Penang. In unity with us, we have the assistance of the young people of the Youth for a United World from Indonesia to enhance the atmosphere of the carnival through their band performances. We are also blessed to have the presence and support of the members of the Focolare Movement from the whole zone of Thailand who made all the effort to be one with us in this event. Simultaneously, we will have food stalls and various booths throughout the venue promoting fraternity through sports, arts and social activities».
«Among those are an “Official Run4Unity Booth” explaining more on the United World Project, “Cooperative Games” based on living out the Golden Rule, “Creative Arts” with face painting, Henna and Hair Braiding, “Health Screening” for Blood Group, Sugar Level, Pressure Check and BMI, “Honesty Booth” a one-stop shop for used clothes, books, bags and household items».
«To cater for our very young participants who will be joining us, we also have an inflatable playground and a clown with balloons to entertain the children.
At sharp 12 noon, we will have the “Time-Out”, to observe a one-minute silence for world peace.
We will then dance the Run4Unity song together with the crowd. With the Run4Unity just around the corner on 1st May 2017, we can envision the unity in diversity, people coming together, interacting and building fellowship, making new friends and bonding fraternal relationships through this event. We pray and hope that unity and peace be experienced by all through this event and throughout the world, and that each one goes home committed to be a peace builder».
